Imes Cemetery in Southampton Township

This is the resting place of Richard Iames, one of our first thirteen settlers. To the left was the mill race to one of the first mills in the area built and ran by another one of the thirteen, John Spurgeon.   Later a number of run-away slaves were buried in this family cemetery.  David Bradley wrote about these slaves in his 1981 novel "The Chaneysville Incident".
